Question: Any possible way to increase the resolution of my laptop monitor?
I just got a HP laptop with a 15" monitor. Its highest resolution is 1024X768.
I was wondering if i would be able to get a more resolution if i upgraded the video card.
Answer: No. LCD displays have a fixed number of pixels and attempts to display at anything other then their native resolution results in very poor results.

Years ago when the portable game came on the market many serious gamers laughed the whole concept of use a laptop for gaming. These first gaming laptops simply were not in power and performance of PC games. No contest. A desktop computer simply gave you better performance than a gaming laptop.
Although this last statement is still probably true, the performance gap has narrowed significantly in recent years. Laptops have increased in performance with the introduction of more powerful mobile dual processors or even quad processors enhanced with dual graphics cards via SLI technology.
As go into production technologies fifth and sixth computer and mobile platforms ... the performance gap will soon be eradicated. Especially when you consider some specialists mobile games are actually giving you desktop components in a laptop. Same performance as a desktop only Packaged in a laptop. However, calling these laptops is a bit of a stretch, because you will not be sitting with these creatures mutant heavy on your knees for a long period of time.
Regardless, laptop specialists like Alienware, Sager and Rock in the United Kingdom, turn these monsters of calculation, which can easily compete with PC games. The only thing more shocking than all that raw power and performance is the price. You to pay a heavy price for all that style and performance.
The major drawback or disadvantage of starting with a gaming notebook - There is little room for improvement. With a PC game, you can always upgrade to the latest technology, because there are usually slots open and space to expand ... You can even upgrade to a bigger screen if you wish.
However, with the computer Portable gaming the only things that you can realistically upgrade are the RAM (memory) and hard drive. In any gaming notebook is so compact in size reduced to fit in a small package, there is little room for improvement. Many serious gamers dismiss owning a gaming notebook for this reason.
The other major reason is price since you can get more power and performance in a PC game for a price cheaper than going with a laptop. Again, the gap narrows, but still no contest. While prices are falling portable constant, you can always play better platform at a lower price, if you go the PC route. In addition, larger monitors are now 24 or 25 inches on some desktop systems so laptops can not compete with the effects of visual display if the greater your thing.
Then the only other issue that must be asked:
Why are gaming laptops so bloody popular?
Mainly because of the "Cool" factor. Do not laugh, these platforms games, especially those monsters at high prices, are the essence of cool. They look spectacular and in our world looks very shallow count. Like many people who buy sports cars high performance more for looks than for performance is a matter of style on performance for them.
Then there is always the portability factor since laptops, monsters, even those 10 or 12 pounds, are more mobile than a bulky PC Tower and Monitor. You can take any style as "cool" and design with you wherever you go. In other words, even if life pulp is next to nil, a gaming laptop is mobile. You can take it with you and show it.
So is it a question style on performance?
Not really, seems to be a factor in May Thurs why laptops are so popular, but without the high performance and power extreme load, these systems would be dead in the water. Because ultimately, when the game is concerned, performance is still king. Gaming Notebooks do the job, perhaps not as cheap as their desktop rivals, but you can play the latest games on these pimped-out monsters.
Ultimately, the Players want the first performance and looks are secondary. But they will probably still 'show-off "style" However, friends and other players. Even so, with gaming laptops, it is more a question of performance style.
The great thing about laptops game today, you do not have to sacrifice one for another. If you can afford the hefty price tag, you can have all the style plus all the performance you need, carefully packed in your laptop own game.
