The concept of "clean technologies" is a response to the projected population growth on the planet, which is estimated at 2.3 billion people 2050. The theory is that firms in clean technologies that address environmental sustainability in the context of their overall business strategy profitability will be the successful model that companies will use to meet the growing demand for food, clothing, shelter and other scarce resources that will only increase as incomes rise in the world.
Where "green technology" evolved in the 1970s by the government controls to mitigate the effects of manufacturing and agricultural pollutants on the environment, "technology own "is integrated into the business model from the beginning. Green Tech has traditionally considered an expensive but necessary drain on profits of an enterprise. Clean Tech is integrated into the corporate strategy as a recognition that scarce resources and pollution exist and must be addressed when planning strategies profitable. This is a very long lines when company includes the cost to pay office rent or purchase cost of equipment manufacturing as a whole budget.
Also, there are certain products which are included in green funds that would never be included in own funds, such as ethanol. Where there is a funding alternative energy include a company that produces ethanol in its fund because ethanol is considered as an alternative to fossil based oil, a clean technology fund would not include an ethanol producing company in its portfolio because its net carbon impact. Ethanol production requires a lot of fuel based on oil to grow corn and process it, there are significant positive effects on the Environment for use.
Green Tech Exchange Traded Funds (ETFs) tend to focus on a single business, such as energy, manufacturing or recycling. Accordingly, Green Energy Exchange Traded Funds can be very volatile and sensitive to fluctuations in oil prices. ETFs have cleantech not been as volatile (although, in fairness, they have only been around since the Clean Tech Index was created in 2006, it is therefore not a long story to follow). High-tech companies Clean exist across a broader range of industries such as agriculture, manufacturing, transportation and new materials. Accordingly, the Clean Technology Exchange Traded Funds have seen a more stable performance, comparable to the yields of the index S & P 500 Index.
