Question: The washer and dryer is in the kitchen as there is no where else to put it. It vibrates the floor.?
The spin cycle causes bad vibration and knocks things off the wall in the room behind it. It also travels a few inches, and causes the stove next to it to vibrate also. When we walk across the floor, things in the china hutch, on the t.v. etc., jiggle. Is this a support beam problem under the house, or a problem with too little nailing of the floor plywood? How can I fix it?
Answer: You probably need to add bracing to the floor. If you have access through a crawl space or basement, you can do a couple of things:
1. box between the beams in the area where the washer & dryer are used. This will help spread the load to more joists. Do this at least one extra joist out from the area they sit in perpendicular to the joists, and do it on at least both ends of the area they sit in parallel with the joists.
2. add support posts under the joists. If you do the above, then you could add 2 support posts on the outside corners (assuming the other side is close to the wall).

With the blue ribbon, paper place that is cut an inch smaller than your templates, making the air open squares. Tape the paper down with blue masking tape and move on. Once finished, you walk just on paper and using a roller and brush to fill the open spaces. Note that for best results, brush from the tape to the center to avoid catching leaks epoxy under your tape. A layer of your color should be dark enough. Once you have completed all the open spaces with your dark be sure not remove the tape and masking paper. You do not want the tape to stick on your floor.
