Wet dust collectors are liquid type (usually, but not necessarily, water) to capture and separate particulate matter (dust, mists and fumes) from a gas stream. Some scrubbers operate by spraying the washing liquid into the contaminated air. Other bubble air through the scrubbing liquid. In addition, many drawings gybrid wet scrubber.
Particle sizes, which can be controlled by a scrubber gas range from 0.3 to 50 microns, or a little larger. Wet collectors may be used for the collection of most particulates from the gas stream process where the industrial economy to allow the collection of material wet.
Advantage on wet collectors collectors in the form of dry dust include:
* Constant pressure;
* None of the secondary dust sources;
* Parts Little spare requirements, low maintenance operation;
* Ability to collect the gas and solid / liquid particles;
* Ability to manage high temperature and high flow of gas humidity, and to reduce the risk of fire or explosion;

The mechanisms involved in capturing and removing scrubbers are paricularsin inertial effect, Brownian diffusion and condensation:
1) inertial impaction occurs when a particle of dust and a collision of liquid droplets, leading to the capture of the particle. The resulting liquid / Of gas particles is relatively large and may be easily removed from the flow of gas transport by gravitational force or encroachment on the separators.
2) Brownian diffusion occurs when dust particles are very small and the independent movement of the carrier gas flow. These tiny particles come collides with another, making the larger particles, or colliding with a drop of liquid and are captured.
3) Condensation occurs when the gas or air is cooled below its dew point. When moisture is condensed in the flow of gas, vapor occurs, and dust particles serve condensation nuclei. Dust particles become larger because of the condensed liquid, and pobability their removal by impaction is increased.
Wet scrubbers to make two individual operations. The first occurs in the contact zone, where the dirty gas in contact with the liquid, the second is the separation zone, where the fluid particles captured is removed from the gas stream.
All Air Canada Air Purification systems use the following principles:
- Liquid High-to-gas ration;
- Intimate contact between the liquid and dust particles, which may be accomplished by training a large number of small droplets of liquid or breaking the flow of gas into many small bubbles that are trained in a bath washing liquid, increase the likelihood that contaminants will be wetted and collected;
- The abrupt transition to dry the wetlands to avoid particles where the accumulation of dry gas enters the collector.
