Question: How do I wash a canvas/cloth handbag? I can't find dry-cleaner that will do it.?

I have a Dooney & Bourke Handbag made of some type of canvas I believe. I took it to a Dry Cleaner and they won't do bags, so now I have figure out how to clean it myself. There is leather attached to the bag, so I can't just wash it in a washer. It is a very light khaki color. Does anyone have an idea of how to clean it without ruining it? Thank you!!!

Answer: You can get a dry cleaning kit in your neighborhood wal-mart or some place like that, it's in the laundry aisle.

Question: clothes storage/wardrobe space ideas?

I am nearly 13 and i have a smallish bedroom with not a lot of wardrobe space meaning i have to have a chest of draws. Does anyone have any ideas that can mean i have one place to put all my clothes. All answers appreciated.

Answer: What can help is to do something like stack "cubby holes" (maybe milk crates - you know, those colored plastic ones?) on part of the floor of the closet, leaving enough to-the-floor space for a few long clothing items. If you stack them (or other cubes) with the openings facing out, you'll create shelves for any number of things.

Then, if you did something like get "pants hangers" (coat hangers with about six bars for hanging more than one pants/skirt item) you could hang a couple in the space you left. Also, for a couple of dollars each you could get a couple of over-the-door hangers. They can hold quite a few coat hangers. (Some hold more than others, so look for long ones.)

Don't use hangers for tops and sweaters. Fold them and use the "shelves" you create with the cubbies/cubes.

You can do a similar stacking type of thing on the closet shelf, which will give you more shelf space.

Take any clothes you aren't wearing right now, and either put them in a Plastic Storage bin or two; or at least double bag them with Heavy Duty Trash bags; and store them somewhere else in the house. You can remove this season's stuff and return the next season's stuff when the time comes.

There are "under-bed" Plastic Storage containers, so if you could get one of those it would be a good place to store something like last seasons tops (and other stuff).

You could also cover some plain (but sturdy) cardboard boxes to use as "cubbies" if money "is an object". You could cover them with fabric remnants or even sturdy wrapping paper (if necessary). You could also cover/decorate boxes to stack in the corner of the room.

Something else may be to get a big box and store stuff in it. Then put some version of a "tablecloth" over it to disguise it and make it look like an end table.

Getting sticky hooks (that will hold weight) and putting them on the inside of the closet door can offer a place for things like belts or other light weight items.

What size cubbies you make can depend on how much of each type of thing you have to store.

If you can, take anything out of the chest that could be stored in the cubbies or other boxes, and that will give you some more drawer space for things that you'd rather have in there.
