Question: Is it OK to cover PS3 with microfiber towel while playing..?
I cover my PS3 with microfiber towel while playing but I don't block the vents and put a towel under it? Does the fun supposed to be at level 2 when playing a game on the PS3? When I boot up the PS3 it make the loud sound at the beginning and I heard that was level 3 then goes back to level 1, so when I play a game it goes to level 2 because it was quieter when it boot up that's how I know it's level 2. It goes to level 2 after about 15 minutes of GTA IV or any other game.
Thanks for the answers...I didn't really put a towel underneath the PS3 I took it off long time ago probably 1 day after because I felt it and it was hot....I put a towel on top to reduce dust accumulation when not in used.My temp. in the room since we don't have A/C and live in near Long Beach its about 80F+ temp. inside the house, but my PS3 stays at level 2 when playing GTA IV or FNR4. So you guys say its normal? (CECHL01 80GB PS3) bought it on May 27.
Answer: Why do you cover your ps3 with a towel?
It's not good. Some heat still dissipates through the case plastic, not just the vents. I can't think of any good reason to put a towel on a ps3.
Most ps2's do get to level 2. I always though the fan had more than 3 speeds. But ps3's will hit the second-quietest level if they're in room temperature to slightly over, a few minutes after the ps3 is turned on, and usually will cycle between the two lowest fan speeds.
If you wanna be real nice to your ps3, cool the temperature to 65 F and give it plenty of space around it, then the fan may stay on level 1 all the time.
