More on Kit Monitor Plasma:
Tests of blood glucose include several different tests that measure the amount of sugar (glucose) in the blood of a person. These tests are carried out either on a stomach empty, or after eating a meal or premeasured glucose drink. Glucose testing is performed primarily to diagnose and assess a person with diabetes mellitus. The body uses sugar, also called glucose, to provide the energy needed to operate. People get sugar from their diet and their tissues. Insulin is produced by the pancreas and affects the outer membrane of cells, making it easier for glucose to move from the blood into cells. When insulin is active, the levels of glucose in the blood fall. Sugar from the tissues of the body is stored as glycogen. When glycogen is active levels of blood glucose increases. After a meal blood sugar levels soar. The pancreas responds by releasing enough insulin to take care of all the newly added sugar found in the body. Insulin moves sugar from the blood into cells. Only then did the early sugar blood to stabilize and begin to fall. A person suffering from diabetes mellitus either does not make enough insulin or insulin that does not work correctly. The result is blood sugar remains high, a condition known as hyperglycemia. Diabetes must be diagnosed on as soon as possible. If left untreated, it can damage or cause failure of the eyes, kidneys, nerves, heart, blood vessels, and other bodies. Hypoglycemia or hypoglycemia, may also be detected by testing blood glucose. Hypoglycemia is caused by hormonal disorders and diseases liver, and by too much insulin. There are a variety of ways of measuring the blood of a person sugar.Whole blood glucose testing can be performed by a person in his house, and kits are available for this purpose. The person pricks his finger or (finger prick) with a sharp blade of the sterile package. A single drop of blood is placed on a strip in a portable instrument called a glucometer. The glucometer quickly determines the blood sugar and displays results on a small screen in usually a few seconds. New technologies for monitoring levels of glucose will help diabetics better control their glucose levels. These tests are particularly important for children and adolescents. In mid-2002, the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has approved a new home test for use by children and adolescents (he had already been approved for adults) called the Cygnus GlucoWatch biographer has helped to detect hypoglycemia. Studies show that more frequent inspections are of better quality, new screens like this allow for simpler frequent testing. Continuous monitoring is being developed in early 2004, a company called TheraSense, Inc. has received prior approval from the FDA for clinical trials on a continuous glucose monitor home. The monitor has been designed to provide users with data of glucose real-time alarms for hypoglycemia and hyperglycemia and to show the trends of their blood glucose levels. The fasting plasma glucose test is performed on an empty stomach. For eight hours before the test, the person must be fast (no food or drink, except water). Blood the patient is taken from a vein by a worker health care. The blood sample is collected in a tube containing an anticoagulant. Anticoagulants stop the blood to clot. In the laboratory, the tube of blood is running at High Speed in a machine called a centrifuge. The blood cells sink to the bottom and the liquid residue on top. This straw-colored liquid on top is the plasma. To measure glucose, plasma of a person is combined with other substances. Reaction as a result, the amount of glucose in plasma was determined.
