Question: Cofee: plastic disposable cup or glass cup (need to use detergent to wash it). Which is the best eco-option?
I want to know which of the options is more environment friendly (consideren use of water and detergent to wash the glass cup)
Answer: The glass cup/mug is most eco-friendly.
If you're a coffee drinker, odds are you'll have coffee in the mug more often than not, so you actually just rinse it and use zero detergent.
And for the die hard coffee drinkers, you'd be rinsing the mug with hot coffee - germs don't stand a chance!
In the end, use permanent instead of disposable, paper cups over plastic/styrofoam, and re-use the disposables more than once.
From an energy use standpoint, go for the renewable/eco-friendly choice, rather than the lower energy choice, to show support for the product so that mfrs will work to reduce the energy to manufacture and recycle that product.

We've got a lot better recycling and reuse of products in an effort to save our planet. But let's face it, there are certain things, like a film plastic resealable bags and even aluminum, which are almost impossible to reuse. Most cities want a clean aluminum foil, which means that ninety percent of the paper used in most households can not be recycled. All these bags and cling wrap to go the trash and clog our landfills.
More recently, companies have developed so-called reusable containers disposable plastic. They have this little "recyclable" symbol on them, but very few facilities are set up to recycle plastic No. 5. So where do they end up? In landfills. This little number on the triangle included in most plastic products is a clear indication whether a product can be recycled or not. Yes, No. 5 plastics are considered recyclable, but most municipal recycling programs accept only the Nos. 1 and 2 products.
Here's another thing to consider: Although we all be good Samaritans by recycling everything under the sun, the market for recyclables is almost saturated. Instead of being recycled, municipalities are non-tons of piles of plastic and glass bottles and awaiting the day when someone will actually want. Ultimately, the result is the same: a landfill stuffed with glass and plastic.
What's the answer, then? Buy something that you do not have to throw after a few uses. The best way to go green with your food storage is to use storage containers of food of high quality that will last years. This is how we used to store food before Convenience has surpassed common sense. Durable plastic containers made their debut back in 1945 when Earl Tupper recognized that the invention of a new plastic, polyethylene, could mean the start of something big. He began producing plastic cups for the shower in a variety color and then presents the cup lid. Much innovation has happened over the years, with more variety and versatility now included in the selection of container today. You name, you can find a container that can store --- and store much longer than the old containers. Many companies have developed their own line of plastic containers to compete with the famous Tupperware, which, even after more than 60 years continues to be the industry standard.
Most recently came the advent of the disposable container. Fortunately, ecological awareness, friendly is to bring some common sense and more likely to recognize not only the economic benefits of buying good food containers, but also those environment.
In fact, a great university requires its students to use reusable food containers and a ditch the disposable ones which have become very popular among the dorm to live together. More glass containers are popping up, but many moms are concerned about breaking glass. You're not going to send five years, with a glass container filled with carrot sticks in the classroom. The alternative most environmentally and safe storage containers is plastic.
