Question: Cake frosting Doubts?

Please answer all my queries?
1)I buy the "thick cream" that comes in tetra pak from the stores. Brands like Puck or KDD. How do I use that for frosting in cake?

2)Also is confectioner's sugar or icing sugar basically usual sugar that is powdered? I used to grind the normal sugar in the mixie till it became like icing sugar.

3)I once bought Whipped cream (also came in a tetra pak). It was of such watery consistency that I didn't know how to use it in icing?

4) I have plain unsweetened cocoa powder. Cooking chocolate bars/chips, etc were more expensive, so for a learner I thought I d have some recipes from cocoa powder.

Answer: Ok, I"m thinking that your "thick cream" was just whipping cream. You have to whip it with your mixer in order to get it light and fluffy. For frosting, add some powdered sugar and vanilla.

Confectioner's Sugar,and Icing Sugar are all powdered sugar. You can make your own by blending regular white sugar in a blender, but that is a lot of extra work ) Plus, the store bought powdered sugar has some corn starch in for stability.

I think I answered your questions, the tetra paks with the cream are as I stated above.

OH, the cocoa powder. If you have a recipe that calls for unsweetened chocolate bar, you can substitute the powder as follows:
1oz unsweetened chocolate bar = 3 Tablespoons cocoa and 1 Tablespoon of oil.
