what might cause an individual magnetic strip of ocean floor crust to vary in width? i don't understand sea floor spreading so if you answer, please explain why. thank you. you'll be doing me a BIG favor. =]

Answer: The earth's magnetic field flips now and then. When it does, it flips for the whole planet. So if the stripes of orientation on the ocen floor vary in width, it is because some parts were spreading (creating new floor) faster than other parts.

Question: Renting of Commercial Floor Cleaner Machines in CHICAGO!!!!?

Does anyone know where to find floor cleaners/machines/buffers etc. for commercial use in Chicago or surrounding suburbs?? I own a residential/commercial cleaning service and a client has requested I clean their warehouse floors with a special floor Cleaning Machine. I already tried "Home Depot" but they will only rent if you have a major credit card, which I do not. Any help would be FANTASTIC!!!!! Thanks in advance!
