Question: Do workers who harvest tea face the same cruelties as the people who harvest coffee/cocoa?

I've never liked coffee, but I drink tea regularly to get my caffeine fix. However, I've been wondering about who harvests the tea, and whether or not they are fairly paid and treated. I usually drink Stash, Bigelow, or Trader Joe's store brand tea. Are these companies fair trade? If not, do they support local farmers?

Answer: Stash has Certified Organic teas, but that doesn't necessarily mean the workers are treated fairly, just that they aren't exposed to chemicals. Bigelow has the same standing, and Trader Joe's website doesn't disclose any such information.

I do know of a company that is about to come out with Certified Organic, Fair Trade tea (black, white, green...). They already have a proven track record in the Coffee Industry. It's called Boresha Int'l. They provide a fair price for the farmers, coffee estate workers, with absolutely no child labor, are enviromentally friendly, and are a proponent of the Invisible Children's Foundation.

I know you said you aren't a coffee drinker per say, but Boresha will be introducing a couple different lines of Tea here in the near future, all healthy and an excellent way to provide the best outcomes for humanity and natural environments; both now and into the indefinite future.
