Kids need for calories, protein, fiber, and a little sugar and some fats in appropriate portion sizes. It is preferable to avoid an overabundance of "bad fats" and "empty carbs." To help busy parents who may not have time to plan sufficiently to make ensure that children receive the essential nutrients needed each day, I propose the following as a starting point.

QUESTIONS

1. Who prepares meals for the child? A parent? The child? The grandparent? Other?

2. Does any adult knows what or how the child is to eat? Is there a limit to what the child eats? Who determines this? How often does your child to "seconds" at the time meals?

3. How many times a week your child watch TV while eating a meal?

4. How many meals per week is all family sit at the table?

5. How many servings of fruits and vegetables your child eats every day?

6. How many times week your child to eat out? Eat at home?

7. Does your child wake up in the middle of the night to eat?

8. What type of activities do for family fun?

9. Are there issues related to dietary habits or your child's diet you're concerned?

TIPS

1. Monitor your child's weight regularly. Ask the doctor about the weight and models Winning would be healthier for your child.

2. Give your child water, skim or 1% milk and diet drinks only. (applies to 4 years)

3. Limit juice consumption to no more than 4 oz per day.

4. Include at least 5 servings of fruits and vegetables per day in your child's meal and snack plan.
