Question: How can I clean my gray UGGs without buying the cleaner?

I was at lunch yesterday and someone spilled apple juice on them. It's a few drops, they dried up but the outline of the stains are still there.

This may sound stupid but I hear snow is a disinfectant, so if I step in deep snow with them, will it go away? Someone suggested it but I wasn't so sure.

Also, how else can I remove the stains without putting them in the washer or buying the UGG cleaner?

Answer: Rub some eucalyptus oil into the stain. If you have trouble finding any use Martha Gardiner's wool mix with eucalyptus oil. Sponge over with warm water, or better still throw them in the washing machine and wash on wool cylce. I have been using the washing macine to launder UGG boots for years.

Most of these cleaners are things that you may already have at home and in most cases provide a safe alternative non-toxic to bleach or cleaners with ammonia-based. Note the precautions mentioned where applicable. Once you start using these products natural, you'll never need or want to buy those expensive cleaners again.

1. Vinegar

Probably one of the most commonly used natural cleanser, and with so many uses, you want to fill a spray bottle to keep handy and keep as a gallon of extra under the sink just for cleaning. Use it as you would an all-purpose cleaner by mixing 1 part water to 1 part vinegar and use to clean most areas of your home. It cleans, disinfects and deodorizes safely and effectively.

In the bathroom it works very well in the bath, toilet, sink, flooring and countertops. Try to use pure vinegar in the toilet to get rid of rings. It works much the fight against soap scum and hard water stains. For tough jobs, soak a cloth in pure vinegar and apply to the stain for one hour or two, then wipe.

Simply cut a lemon in half and wipe on the wood. Mix lemon juice with vinegar and baking soda to make a cleaning paste. Mix 1 cup olive oil with 1 / 2 cup lemon juice to make a Furniture Polish for hardwood.

Take a used lemon zest and put it in the garbage disposal to freshen the drain.

3. Baking soda

Baking soda works well as a mild abrasive cleaner which does not damage delicate or coated surfaces. Salt is also ideal for cleaning grease spills in ovens or burners. While the oven is still warm, sprinkle salt on the spill. If it has completely dried, then wet with water before applying salt. Once the oven has cooled, remove and clean up spills.

8. Cornmeal

Cornmeal works well to absorb the grease. Simply cover a grease stain fresh cornmeal, let it sit for a few hours and vacuum.

9. Mayonnaise

This delicious spread can be used for more tuna sandwiches. The next time you Water spills on your wood furniture, leaving a water mark, apply a generous portion of mayonnaise and let it sit for several hours. Wipe it away and allow to dry.

10. Borax (sodium borate)

Borax is a natural substance that kills mold and bacteria, and is an excellent alternative to bleach. It also deodorizes and decomposes detergent to improve its cleaning power. Try Dipping old towels or sports clothes in a solution of borax and water to make it smell fresh again.

Caution: Borax can be toxic to small children and pets, keep out of reach.
