Question: How do I keep my mother-in-law from buying us presents we don't need?

Every week my mother in law brings something else that we "need". Our house is getting so full of stuff we never use bc she is constantly bringing us presents. Some rooms even have things sitting out in the middle of the floor bc there is no more space along the wall for them. The most recent scenario involves a laundry basket. There are only 3 people in our house but we have 5 laundry baskets because she keeps buying new ones! I don't have any more room! The last one she gave us had 3 compartments so you could sort your laundry but it didn't fit anywhere but the kitchen so it's now a recycling center. Now she's bought me a 4 compartment sorter and plans on bringing it this weekend. I have NO IDEA where I'm going to put the newest contraption. I do laundry ever Saturday so she does usually see it out but I've explained it's the only opportunity to get it done. And that's just one gift scenario. Otherwise we get along great. Any ideas for making it stop w/o hurting feelings?

If the paper is the bane of our existence, so laundry must be very close. If you are a family of two or more, you are well aware that dirty laundry is multiplying while you're snoring at night (or at least that's the way). A friend once said in exasperation, "do Laundry never stops! "Alas, there is hope. All you need are some simple strategies and some rules of family and you'll be on track to gain control of your laundry.

Start with the basics - Keep your laundry sorted. If you do not have a Laundry Room, itself and then find space in a closet. While washing is not top of the list's most popular fun things to do, but it is one of those "tasks of life "that must be done. So why not invoke some or all of these strategies and agree on the rules of family laundry and laundry should not be a dreaded chore.

Ok....I'm new at this and I'm trying to figure out how much money to put away to buy this stuff. I need to buy EVERYTHING and I'm trying to put together a list. Is there anything major I'm excluding that you can think of that a newborn baby will need?

Answer: Ok, First off, take the changing table off your list! People don't use them and they just take up space! You can get a nice thick changing pad that you can put on top of a dresser and change the baby there! Truly the only things you need to bring a baby home is, a car seat, a crib and sheets, bottles if you don't breast feed, blankets and sleepers!! The rest is just extra's that may make somethings easier, but also can clutter up a home! You don't need a high chair until baby is 6 months old, no solids before then!! Shoes are mean until baby is learning to walk, stair and plug guards aren't needed until baby learns to move!! They sell A LOT of stuff now for babies that are not needed and just fill a house up with crap!!
