Ironing Board Cover

Question: A Lamination Question!!?

I laminated a classroom book about a week ago. I think the lamination machine wasn't hot enough because in some places it didn't stick and adhere at all.

Can I place it on place the book on an Ironing Board, cover it with a towel and iron it together? Does lamination film work AFTER THE FACT? or is it...sort-of ruined?

Answer: I have tried to re-laminate before. It can be done, no problem. However, it is not a very good job and you may be disappointed. It tend to have crease lines throughout it.

I have also tried the ironing business. Don't waste your time as it doesn't work. Doesn't get hot enough.

I do think that you didn't let the laminator warm up enough. When I plug our in I wait about 15 minutes before I start any laminating. Perhaps I wait too long, but I've done what you have done a few times, and now I wait just to make sure.

As I said, try re-laminating and if it doesn't work then " is it...sort-of ruined?" Yes it is.

What is asbestos??

Asbestos was used in a wide range of products manufactured between the years 1940 and 1980. Asbestos was used in sheeting / cladding, roofing, insulation and electrical, cast fittings, water tanks Rain gutters, downspouts, pressure pipes, underground drainage and sewer pipes, sills, copings, chalkboards, fascias, infill panels, cement pipe and sheet, floor tiles, gaskets, friction materials, coatings, plastics, textiles, paper and other products (ATSDR 2001, NICNAS, 1999). Asbestos is popular among the construction industry due to the following factors: cost effective and high capacity chemical resistance and physical.

Asbestos is a natural fiber that can float in the air. High levels of exposure to these fibers over a prolonged period of time increases the likelihood of respiratory diseases as asbestosis, mesothelioma and lung cancer. Government Australia takes very important steps to increase awareness of asbestos. The Government of Queensland Asbestos Management and Control policy on government buildings requires the phasing of high-risk ACM, with an overall aim to have finished in the asbestos free workplaces controlled by the government buildings.

Most products manufactured now days do not contain asbestos. However products that are made before 1970 contain asbestos, many types of building products and insulation materials used in homes contained asbestos. These are products that could contain asbestos in the past, and conditions that release fibers May: The steam pipes, boilers, furnace ducts, floor titles, cement sheets, boxes, door gaskets, soundproofing, decorative material, patching and joint compounds, textured paints, roofing asbestos-cement shingles, siding, fireproof gloves, stove top pads, Ironing Board, coverlets, carpets and automobile break pads, clutch facings, gaskets, etc.

Material containing asbestos is difficult to identify, the only accurate method to confirm the presence of asbestos by means of laboratory tests. So do not hesitate to call an inspector of asbestos for a full inspection of your building.
