Question: What foods are considered "cold foods"?

In Asian society, cold foods are considered bad for the digestion, and must be eliminated from the diet in order to heal the stomach. This "cold" does not refer to food temperature, but rather how the stomach reacts or receives the food.

Answer: The precaution against foods considered energetically cold, such as watermelon and green tea refers to the tendency of the digestive system to react poorly to cold. In Chinese medicine, the organ referred to the spleen (vaguely analagous to the pancreas in western medicine) is said to be healthiest and "happiest" when warm and dry. Cold foods need not be eliminated, but must be taken in moderation, balanced with warm cooked food or spices. Eat what is in season and locally grown and you usually can't go wrong.

Although it is difficult for some of you to transform your diet completely, you do not need to go 100% Gross. You can incorporate natural alternatives to the foods you eat (like peanut butter and organic raw unscheduled peter pan). With so many homes on the market today, it is more important than ever to make your home stand out from the herd so that buyers will remember your house above all the others who are on the market.
