Sensor Trash

Question: I have a 2001 Lexus GS300 Both the check engine and VSC lights came on recently Help!?
Ive never had this problem before i did take my car to the lexus dealership back in March of 08 for the check engine light they said i needed to change the oxygen sensor in my car which i did now both of these lights recently came on which has never happened before i took my car 2 days ago to the dealership to get it checked they told me nothings wrong that it seems trash got into my car and it should clear its self out and the car is running fine but if the light comes back on they said a sensor would need to change that would cost me about a grand to get fixed so a day went by and now the lights are back on what would you suggest i do about my car??
Answer: don't go to the dealer for this issue. i repeat don't go to the dealer. it's a minor problem. your car has more than one oxygen sensor so they will go and change all of them. this will cost you more money. you have 4 sensors 2 before catalaytic converter and 2 after cat converter. your fuel injector can be plugged, you can have a bad cat converter but i'm pretty sure your cat won't be bad on a 2001. i would disconnect the battery for a couple minutes then connect battery back upp this should reset lights. if they come back on go to a local shop and get your engine light code read by mechanic he will tell you what it is. this won't affect your engine it will affect your mpg in the long run if not fixed and can make yor cat go bad. i had engine light on with my es 300 and they wanted to replace all sensors at dealer and i found out it was only egr valve. the part cost $100 and took 15 minutes to replace. that is dealer for you. trying to rip you off.
