Question: New Tung Oil finish waxy!?

We sanded unfinished wood floors and applied 2 coats Behr Tung Oil finish. 24 hours later, we have waxy spots that weren't resolved with a fine buffing pad (orbital buffer).

We are considering renting another buffer and using coarser pads or reapplying a coat of Tung then buffing it while damp or just waiting to see if it will dry more evenly.

The excess spots scratches of with a fingernail. The bottle only recommends cleanup for "spills" with paint thinner. It's 2000sf of floor, so I need a less labor intensive solution.

Answer: First of all behr is one of the worst products you can buy...Beyond the raves and all of it..They do not honor thier warranty and the products are not user friendly..tough on tools etc..I am a 37 year experienced painter and have had nothing but trouble with behr products..on top of them not honoring 200 gallons of paints I had special ordered and delivered to the job..they put out a bad batch they mixed for me ..and it all started peeling..Thier tung oil also has a parafin base similar to that cheap thompsons water seal they sell..which will ruin a deck in the long run/..I suggest stripping it and starting obver..never use behr products

Tung oil
A second replacement was a product labeled "tung oil." This oil, which is pressed from the nuts of a tung tree, was introduced to the West from China about 1900. It was useful for making superior, water-resistant varnishes, especially for outdoor use.

But tung oil is too difficult for most people to use by itself as a finish. You apply tung oil just like linseed oil or oil/varnish blend, but you have to sand tung oil after every coat, not just after the first, and it takes five to seven coats, allowing two to three days drying time between each, to achieve a smooth, attractive sheen.

Tung oil comes from China, however, so it has a certain mystique. Because few people really knew what tung oil was anyway, many manufacturers began packaging varnish thinned about half with paint thinner and labeling it "tung oil," "tung oil finish," or "tung oil varnish." Others further muddied the waters by calling their thinned varnish Val-Oil, Waterlox, Seal-a-Cell or ProFin.

Thinned varnish (more properly called "wiping varnish") can be applied like boiled linseed oil or oil/varnish blend, or it can be applied with a brush like regular varnish. It makes an excellent finish because it looks good after only two or three coats, cures rapidly, and can be built up to a thicker, more protective film because it cures hard.

Wiping varnish is an improvement in protection and durability over boiled linseed oil and oil/varnish blend, but the only thing new about it is the misleading name on the can. Anyone can make their own wiping varnish by thinning any oil-base varnish or polyurethane enough so it is easy to wipe on the wood.

Remove all furniture away. Sweep and dust the floor using the mop thoroughly. You should not use water to clean hardwood floors as water tends to seep through the cracks and ruin the flooring hardwood. Water damage the actual color of wood and turns milky white. If you see white spots on the floor and try to clean it with a small amount of gasoline Mineral.

Hardwood flooring must be swept and cleaned once a day as the dust tends to cause scratches on the ground. You should check all strings of the machine buffering before use. Attach the pad to the stamp machine and then work on small areas, once in a while after applying the wax slowly on the stamp pad with your hands or a cloth.

Then slowly Buff the floor until you get the right to shine. Buffering restores the floor and is in fact the most crucial point of floor maintenance. You do not need to be a Expert buffer to obtain the desired results, be patient and you will be proud of your work. Question: Above Ground Pool Vacuum PSI drops from 12 PSI to 3 PSI and isn't picking up anything in pool. Please advise.

I have a 24' round above ground pool.
This is 5th summer.
Pump and filter are new and on 2nd season.
Winterized everything well.
New hoses and secure connections with no leaks.
Took apart and put new sand in filter last summer.
Tried 2 different vacuum hoses - same problem.
Do I need new vacuum head? Any recommendations?
I read a vacuum head with wheels is better than standard one with brushes.
Don't know why I'm losing so much pressure.
Never had this problem before.
No blockages in hoses.
Already backwashed.
Chlorinator is set to FULL.
I primed the pump.
The rubber seal is secure in the lid of pump.
No petcock.
Pressure is good (12 psi) when pump is running normally or in Rinse cycle.
Please help!!!
The vacuum head is a year old with bristles still long and straight.

Answer: if its a brush vacuum,maybe suctionn is pulling it down and bristles are worn out,causing it to stick to bottm
