Question: How long does Royal Icing last?

If I make royal icing at home and store it, then bring it to school the next day, is it still usable? If so, can I use it the next day, and then the next?

Note- If I do make it at home and bring it to school, I'll be leaving it at school. I just want to know if I put it in a zipped lock bag or something and it'll be usable the next day (leaving it at room temperature).
I am making my royal icing with:
2 large egg whites
2 teaspoons fresh lemon juice
3 cups confectioners sugar

Answer: Royal icing should last for a week, but no more because it will start to break down. Do not need to store it in the fridge. I do not know any recipe that has milk in it. Your recipe is one that uses egg whites, which is fine, but there are people that do not like raw eggs or want to take the risk such as young children and pregnant women. Try meringue powder instead:

4 cups sifted sugar or 1 lb box
3 tablespoons of meringue powder
5 tablespoons of luke warm water for stiff consistency

To store it you need to make sure it does not get exposed to air in any way or it will harden. If you use ziploc bags just be sure to squeeze all the air out of it. I store mine in plastic containers. I put a layer of plastic wrap on top and place it where it actually touches the icing. Place the lid on it.
